Appearance: Luna is pretty, but not extraordinarily so. Her hair is waist-length and dirty blond. She sometimes wears it straight, and sometimes curly, depending on her mood; if she doesn't feel like styling her hair at all, it looks a little straggly. She has big eyes and fair eyebrows that give her a look of constant surprise. Her eyes are an unusual blue-grey and she blinks less than other people which is also a contributing factor to her look of surprise. She doesn't use much makeup; some mascara, blush and lipgloss and she's ready to go; she likes to keep it natural.

She is known for her excentrical choices of jewellery, such as necklaces made of Butterbeer corks or Radish earrings. When she's not in her school robes, she usually wears quite interesting and often self-made clothes that make her the centre of attention as well as the subject of mockery with her classmates. She wears what pleases her and she doesn't follow any fashion trends; the only thing that matters to her is that she feels comfortable in what she wears, and that she can express herself with her clothes.

History: Luna grew up in a house shaped like a rook or a round castle, near Ottery St. Catchpole. Not only on the outside is the house very unusual; it is also filled with objects that most wizards have never even heard about.

Her father is Xenophilius Lovegood, the editor of The Quibbler, and her mother was a quite extraordinary witch who loved to experiment which lead to her early death when Luna was only nine years old.

Her parents are very open-minded and honest and taught Luna everything she knows. She had a happy childhood and is loved dearly by her parents. She has no siblings and had no friends when she was a child which probably contributed to the fact that she sometimes seems to live in her own world.

Her mother's death was a tragedy to both Luna and her father, and she often misses her. She is, however, comforted by the knowledge that she will see her again someday.

In her first few years at Hogwarts, Luna didn't have many friends and was often on her own. She is very intelligent and witty which got her sorted into Ravenclaw, and she is one of the best students of her year.

Her favourite subjects at school are Care of Magical Creatures, Divination as well as Defense Against the Dark Arts.

In her fourth year at school, she befriends Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley and some of their friends, and is quite glad not to be alone anymore.
Personality: Luna is often described as dreamy and weird because she lives in her own world and is different than the other students at Hogwarts. She often seems to be out of touch with reality and many of her classmates mock her because of that. She is aware that people consider her weird but she never fights back and doesn't seem to really care.

She is open-minded and speaks her often unusual opinions openly and is not ashamed of being different. She often attracts attention to herself for her unusual taste in fashion and her belief in the existance of unknown Magical Creatures, such as Nargles or the Crumple-Horned Snorknack.

Luna is very patient, accepting and observing, and is known for her ability to love people, even if they steal her possessions and call her "Loony" behind her back.

She has a weird sense of appropriate social behaviour and often laughs a little too loudly or says things that make the people around her uncomfortable. She is honest, faithful and loyal, and her friends can count on her completely. She often surprises people by saying completely random things that, in the end, turn out to be not so random after all.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Luna's strengths are her honesty and the fact that she's completely loyal and open-minded. She loves her friends unconditionally and accepts their good as well as their bad sides. Her greatest weakness is probably the fact that she doesn't seem to live in the "real world"; she is often dreamy and absent-minded, but then also surprises people by noticing things they haven't seen before.
Habits\Quirks: Luna has a tendency to say things that seem completely random. She has an odd, loud laugh and makes statements that make other people uncomfortable. She tucks her wand behind her ear rather than into her pocket and twirls her hair around her finger when she's thinking.
Friends and Enemies: Luna doesn't have many friends but she likes pretty much everyone; even those who occasionally ridicule her. She especially likes to hang out with Harry and his friends, and Ginny and Neville. Her enemies are the Death Eaters and Muggle-haters.
